When in chile! do as the chileans
December 24, 2019
Welp, I made it! it's been a journey but I’m finally in Chile. The flights here were so long and boring. I tried to sleep on the flight but couldn't so I ended up being awake for 36 hours. I hate my life decisions. We were greeted at the airport by the mission president and a bunch of other missionaries. We went to the mission office and had some classes. I don’t know what about because I was sorta asleep during it. They were like how have you guys not fallen asleep yet and I’m like practice from binge watching Netflix 24/7 lol that was a joke mom.
They gave us dominoes for dinner and I cried. I hadn't had real food in a month and a half and it tasted so good. We then got to go to the temple. The Concepcion temple is so beautiful. I love it. We them go assigned our companions and headed out into the field. My companion is Hermana Fizakerly. I hope that's how you spell it. Idk. She really cool and really nice. I got really lucky.
My area is Linares 2b. it's about a three-hour bus ride from Concepcion. We live in a small two-story house that has super steep stairs that we fall down all the time. if you hear a thud, someone fell. my bed is literally held up by books. we have a tiny gas stove and a small fridge. door knobs don't exist here. idk why but they don't exist. we have a small study area and a map of the city that is out of date. I love it here. I really do.
I think the worst thing about Chile is that peanut butter doesn't exist here. Like I eat it by the spoonful and you’re telling me that peanut butter doesn't exist here? What is a little new to me is that everyone welcomes each other by like a kiss on the cheek. It’s not a kiss on the cheek but sorta.
They eat so much food here. I am never hungry. Member serve us lunch everyday so I don't have to cook. woot woot. And since they give us so much food, I am not hungry for dinner or breakfast so I really only eat lunch. I have successfully eaten everything people have given me and all of the food people have given me.
We had zone conference this week which was fun. I saw Elder Taylor! He's doing well.
we are in a whitewashed area so we didn't have any investigators at first but we did a bunch of tracking and we got 5 people to come to church on Sunday and we got two baptism dates set!
One is an 11-year-old girl who loves the church. we had sorta met her and they first thing she asks us is when can she get baptized. the second is her little sister who is 9 and wants to get baptized. we are currently teaching them more lessons and I can't wait for the baptism.
Thank you all so much for the quotes and such. I got all the notes and pictures in a package for Christmas. At first I was confused at what they were because I saw that they were like paper ornaments but one ornament had a huge photo of sister Jasperson's face on it and i was like oh no what is this and then I saw all the notes and more photos and I loved it!
Thank you all for the Christmas wishes! I hope you are all doing well. I'm in an old dusty internet cafe and I have no idea how to upload photos so who knows when you will get photos idk. my p days are normally Monday but I had zone conference Monday so it was changed to today for this week.
