Indian Poker

Well this week was a long one.
Monday we went thrifting and I found a dope NASA shirt, that's it, that's my week.... jk I'll write more
Hna Eagar and I bought a stuffed animal duck named Alfred and he has become our district mascot. :)
We had a lot of meeting at the beginning of the week because hurricane Laura was coming. We baught extra food and water and that was about all the prep we did. When laura did hit, nothing happened. It completely missed us. We keep praying for Louisiana. That was a terrible hurricane so pray for them and help in anyway you can!
We had a game night! We had a game night with our neighbors! They are from India so it was fun to learn a little more about their culture! They taught us how to play India Poker. Um.... I won.... I dont know what that means exactly. We didnt bet money or anything like that but if we did I would be rich. I completely destroyed them. Indian poker is not poker with chips and stuff. It's weird, i dont know how to explain it but it's really fun and super easy to learn! I am also now their least favorite hermana because I beat them so bad hahaha.
We cleaned the church on Saturday..... that was... fun *insert cringe face* basically the bishop and his wife made fun of my spanish for 2 hours haha. Dont worry I'm fine. We have a good friendship, I've been helping them learn English and they help me learn Spanish by insulting me. It's good. It really helps haha. We have 8 missionaries in our ward now IN OUR WARD!!! most of them just got to the mission and dont know how to speak spanish so it's been interesting but it's been hard to teach members because 8 missionaries with nothing to do all day but call members gets kinda old very fast.
We heart attacked Gwen, our neighbor. We heard she was having hard time so we made her some cookies and heart attacked her! Now we wait for her to get home from work :)
Ok last thing! Paola came to church! And she brought her mom! Her moms name is Maria. At first everything was reeeeaallly awkward but as the bishop introduced himself it got better but then...... aaaalllll the elders came over. We have 8 missionaries in our ward, 6 are elders and 2 are hermanas, us. They all came over and like bombarded her and I just stared at them and signaling with my eyes to leave paola and maria alone cuz we didnt want to overwhelm them the first time they go to church. One elder finally caught on and was like oh yeah elders we should probably head out. Blessed day.
Maria made us tacos. Idk why she was like I'm going to make you tacos so after they went home from church, she made us tacos and they are to die for.
This week had a lot of ups and downs but it ended on a high note! Maria wants to learn more! Even if it feels like you are getting hit with trial after trial, as you focus your life on christ you will notice that it gets easier to handle your trials. Your trials themselves probably wont get easier but the ability to have faith, happiness and to look for the blessing in your trails will increase! It may seem hard right now but you will get through it! Just kneel and pray. The power of prayer is real!
Well that was my week! Yeah this was a long one lololol

April 5, 2021 Hello! This week has felt like 3 weeks. It's been a long one. Not much happened so it's been pretty boring but here are a few of our adventures. We helped make an Easter Video for our facebook page. We helped out at our ward Primary Easter Egg hunt. One kid went hunting before it even started and took all of the eggs! So hna Ralphs and I successfully took his basket and hid all the eggs again 30 seconds before the hunt started. We were able to talk with a ton of ward members at the Easter egg hunt and meet so many members who had gone off the grid when covid started. It was a fun time! We watched conference! We were able to go to a members' home to watch it. While there, their huge cat came and sat on my notebook and on me and wouldnt move. Their cat was sooo sassy and kept walking all over our notes. April 12, 2021 Well.... I'm going to have to be rolled off the plane in three weeks from all the food that we were given. Here is a list of everything that we were given this week 1. Chick-fil-a meals 2. Cinnamon Rolls 3. Baked spaghetti (enough to feed 15 people) 4. 15 Rolls 5. Caramel Cookies 10x 6. Hamburgers 7. Brownies (I say brownies but it was a brownie cake thing) it was cookie dough with oreos on top, with brownie batter on top of that, topped with chocolate chips, topped with icecream. 8. A Watermelon 9. An unholy amount of grapes 10. A huge amount of grilled chicken 11. 10 huge oranges 12. A huge pan of Grilled Broccoli 13. Mashed potatoes 14. A ton of pork 15. even more gravy 16. French fries 17. A giant Easter Egg filled with candy 18. And a cookie whipped cream salad. (I dont know why it's called a salad because one bite from that thing will kill you.) March 2, 2020 When you think you’ve hit rock bottom, you can only go up right... wrong. I can’t remember my favorite lines from the Grinch. I’m devastated. It was terrible. I was quoting the Grinch because the moment was right and I couldn’t remember the quote and now I eat brownies to drown my sorrows. IM NOT ACTUALLY SAD IM OK. This week was really good! Here is the update with our investigators. Augastina her baptism fell through because her mom has to keep working on her baptism it's very hard to get in contact with her mom. Augastina is a 9 year old girl who is very good! Alfred BAPTISM DATE! We taught Alfred about baptism after church this Sunday and he wants to get baptized! He is very excited. April 11th. We know it is very far out but there is a language barrier. He can only speak creole, French and a little Spanish so it takes a bit to explain everything and we want to make sure he understands everything.
