One Wild Ride
November 30, 2020
The span of everything that Im about to write takes place in about 24 hours.
Thanksgiving! we had an awesome thanksgiving potluck feast thing as a district! Hna Christensen and I made 3 pumpkin pies! we actually made the dough and the filling!
Bishop also gave us a huge thanksgiving meal to take home. which included shrimp, turkey, lots of stuffing, and mashed potatoes oh and homemade icecream!
Paola ALSO gave us an unholy amount of food for thanksgiving as well! so in all we got three Thanksgiving meals and I am so glad that we cant eat with people because that would've been sooo hard to eat all that food.
On the way to Paolas house to pick up food there was a car behind us swerving! we were freaking out because we thought he was a drunk driver and he was swerving aaaaallll over the place and almost hit us a couple times. He ended up speeding past us and giving us a "look" for how "slow" we were driving. Dude waas sketch. we said a TOOOON of thank you prayers after for us being safe.
At Paolas we tried sharing a thanksgiving message but her neighbors were having a bopping party outside and blasting music sooo loud that we were literally screaming to try and hear each other. It was very chaotic.
Ok the next day!
So we were challenged to get outside for 4 hours each day and that's what we did! We went to drop off some Books of Mormon and instead of a 15 min. Bike ride it turned into like a 4 hour bike ride. We dropped off 2 books and then all heck broke lose. We got caught in a massive rain storm. We were 40 minutes from home and hna Christensen and I were underneath this weird tarp pavilion thing that didnt block any of the rain. When I say it was raining, like it was pouring rain and i couldnt see anything because it was just coming down. My comp was just as blind. Literally. Like her glasses were completely fogged up and covered in water that she couldnt see anything! There happened to be another guy under the pavillion and his name was victor! Hes from Ukraine and speaks 7 different languages! Hes also like 80 years old. We talked with him for about 30 minutes trying to wait out the storm but somehow it was getting worse! We had a really good conversation about bikes and he fixed Hna Christensens bike because it was broken and wouldn't ride very well. Well the storm just mel coming and It wouldn't lighten up at all. So he called his wife and she gave us a ride home! Blessings! At that point it had been about 4 hours biking and we were soaking wet from riding in the rain and wading in ankle deep water, riding in some random ukranian ladies car and it was freezing cold! It was a very chaotic bike ride.
We put Maria on date!! After a last minute lesson (we went over to her house to get tacos) we shared why we keep the sabbath day holy. Well we were going to leave and we started talking with Paola (her daughter) and she was like "she is so happy that you guys are teaching her and she wants to be baptized" well when she came back into the room we asked her about baptism and she accepted a date for Dec. 24th! There is still a lot to teach but we are so excited!!
This week was awesome and sooo very hectic but that's alright! Life has its ups and downs and everything is in your life for a reason! The rain storm was a blessing because we met victor and without the rain storm we wouldn't never met him and we would've never known how to fix Hna Christensens bike! You cant have mountains without having valleys! Everything in this life is to help you learn and grow!
Well love you all! Be safe!
